The centre is situated next to the current ANU School of Music. The centre contains both public and student libraries, rare book storage, theatre and a display gallery. The building has six levels, on the side of Marcus Clarke St, to create a bridge between the public offices. The building's height steps down towards the private low rise ANU campus. The outside of the building is wrapped in a kinetic second skin, which can open and close, moderating the light and heat within each area of the building. The library section has a tapering triangular prism void running the height of the building.
