Dickson, Canberra
Urban Intervention:
Dickson Campus
Architectural Studio Masters Second Year
Co-Designed with Jessica Howard
This is a campus-based off the linear axis of Northbourne and Dickson being cut by the organic form of Sullivan’s Creek. The campus is connected by exposed elevated pedestrian walkways, these open circulation areas form public meeting places between the programs of the structure. To promote public use and intervention, the two masses at either end of the structure are the organically shaped Theatre and conical Library.
The library has a completely open floor plan thanks to its helix structure. To enter the library the public can move from the ground forum upwards or enter on either upper cafe level or building main level two. The glass facade bulges from the floor plates to collect sun bringing it down into both the library and the surrounding floors.
